PIERFERDINANDO
DI NUZZO

(MONO)gamia
<< [...] and I will tell you a curious fact. The bull is a polygamous animal, but from time to time a monogamous one is discovered.
Sometimes a bull in the pasture gets so attached to one of the fifty cows he has dealings with that he no longer pays any attention to all the others, and wants to deal only with her, and the cow refuses to leave his side in the pasture. When this happens the herders remove the cow from the herd and if then the bull does not return to polygamy it is sent with the other bulls to the arena. >>
<< It seems a sad story to me, sir. >>
<< Madam, all the stories that continue enough, end up in death. Especially all the stories of monogamy end in death; and the monogamist who often lives in full happiness dies in the most lonely way. There is no loneliest man in death, except the suicide, of the man who has lived many years with a good wife and then survives her. If two people love each other there can be no happy ending for them. >>
